Encora&® - Bones
Encora’s 1,000 mg of calcium and 800 IU of vitamin D help prevent osteoporosis and bone fractures (1,2)
As many as 78% of American women do not get the recommended daily dose of calcium required to maintain strong and healthy bones. Starting at about the age of 30, your bone density begins to decrease continually over time. The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends that, starting at age 19, women should get at least 1,000 mg of calcium daily. (29) Most multivitamins contain less than one third of that! (30,31)

To put these facts and figures into perspective, you simply may not know you have osteoporosis until your bones become so weak that a sudden strain, bump, or fall causes a fracture or a vertebrae to collapse. Collapsed vertebrae may initially be felt or seen in the form of severe back pain, loss of height, or spinal deformities, such as stooped posture. (15)

A recent article in the Journal of the American Medical Association identified that 700–800 IU per day is the preferred dose of vitamin D to decrease the risk of hip and nonvertebral fractures. (2) Encora provides a full 1,000–mg dose of calcium and 800 IU of vitamin D to help you keep your bones healthy and to protect you from osteoporosis and bone fractures.

2 daily doses deliver what is needed for strong bones
Your body can only absorb so much calcium at one time. To maximize absorption Encora's daily amount of vitamin D is also delivered in divided doses to maximize the metabolic effect.(12) If you were to take an equivalent, over-the-counter 1,000 mg dose of calcium all at once. Your body may not be able to absorb it all.
In addition, Encora contains omega-3 fatty acids to help maintain bone health. Omega-3's have been shown to increase calcium absorption and decrease urinary calcium excretion.(64)
Protection for now. Prevention for the future.
Adequate intake of both calcium and vitamin D is an essential component of any osteoporosis prescription drug regimen.(15,57)
The recommended amounts of calcium, vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids in Encora offer women protection against bone fractures today, and help prevent osteoporosis later in life.(1,5,56)
